A birthday present

Previously, Aaron had been to the States twice and voiced he has always wanted to visit Seattle. We never had time and back then, I didn't understand what was so attractive about Seattle. This trip around, I thought it would be nice to surprise Aaron with a two day trip to Seattle for his birthday present. I did pretty go keeping it a secret until a few hours before we boarded the train!
When he woke up, I gave him a card with the train ticket and all! We were both excited to get away and explore Seattle by ourselves.

We rode up to Seattle by Train with my sister and her two kiddos. It is a really nice way to get to Seattle, 3.5 hours of free wifi, comfortable seats and beautiful scenery. No I5 traffic jams!!

Here are some photos:

We went to the Chihuly exhibition. If you are in Seattle, you must go see his work.
It is absolutely breath taking, I'm in awe of his glass art. He makes glass move again.

Spring blooms towers over us in a giant glass house.
A floor to ceiling glass sculpture with an oceanic theme.

A boatful of busy glass.

This glass installation was on the ceiling.

Aaron at the gum wall by Pike Market. It is the second germiest tourist attraction in the world.

At Serious Pie. YUM.

I booked us two nights at the ACE hotel in Belltown which turned out to be an excellent idea. It is in walking distance of everything and in such a neat neighbourhood!

And look, the glass panel pivots to reveal the bathroom!!

We had such an awesome time in Seattle, Aaron absolutely loved the EMP museum and I highly recommended it. Even if it is to indulge a bit of the nerdy side.

Even though I did not come along on the trip, I knew that you had an awesome time there and that it was a much needed side trip for you two!
