Munted Musers

I would like to ask the following paper artists: does it hurt when you get a paper cut and then you shampoo your hair and your hair gets into your cut? That would hurt alot huh. Oh the sacrifices we make for our art, check these amazing bandaged finger artists:

Burt Simons made these insanely creepy but real life head sculptures out of tree's best by product, after Oxygen of course: paper. These heads look like they need a bit of skin lotion don't they? The way the paper meet with such a harsh line, it's like a commercial for Neutrogena or something.

Simon, himself, cloned, well cloned as in doubled in paper.. in segments. Awesome!

I'm sure Elsa Mora needs absolutely no introduction but if you have never seen her paper art before, well be still your heart. Her creations are not only whimsical but so detailed and pleasent that I even want to have that paper fly. It's like even that bad part of town looks gorgeous after its' first day of fresh snow and that fly looks so beautiful when Elsa Mora creates it, I want it as my pet.

"Does this paper dress make my arse look big?"

I forgive Brian Dettmer for carving up old books to make these gorgeous fine pieces of art. He calls them "Book Autopsies" and the clever thing is, he cuts the book in a way that reveals certain words and phrases to create a shadow box. I say to heck with burning your college books after your semester is done, make a book autopsy!

Lastly, Richard Sweeney does amazing things with paper in terms of sculptures. I'm a pretty mean origami folder but I have nothing on this guy. The way he makes paper swirl and flirt, mother nature would be so proud.





P.S I had lots of fun at the trunk show last night. I even took photographs but my cable is at home. (Yes I'm blogging at work again, tsk tsk) I will give a full update when my weekend starts :3-4 hours!
