Men like my boots

I had my oil changed the other day and the Oil change guy (OCG) asks me to release my hood. I fumble around and got so flustered and embarrassed that I could not find the lever in a nano second. I hate fitting into that stupid female driver stereotype. (I also hate it when I release my trunk instead of my gas door at the gas station) OCG tells me to open my door as he can do it for me (shammmmme)

OCG: HEYYYYYYY. Niiiiiice boots!
Me: Thanks. Yea.
OCG: What is your name?
Me: Here. *Hands over debit card*
OCG: Whooooa, how do you pronounce that?
Me: Hmm. You try.
OCG: *reads slowly in his head* PUNGG PARKT PKUUJ?
Me: No. It is pronounced Pang Puiyi.
OCG: My last name means Mr Beautiful in French.
*Wants to speed away*

At the hospital, after getting my 16 oz Americano, I passed an old man in his trucker hat with a tartan shirt and a vest. (OMIHTHWATSAAV)
OMIHTHWATSAAV: HEYYYYYYYYY!
Me: Huh?
OMIHTHWATSAAV: Where did you get those boots?!
Me: *Wonders to self if I should bother telling him about Diesel* Downtown, in the Pearl.
OMIHTHWATSAAV: Well! That is great! You don't see boots like that anymore! That's great!

It's quite hard to decide whether to be flattered or horrified when slightly gross people complement you, isn't it? A drunken hobo said he liked my scarf the other day, it freaked me right out but I said thanks (my momma taght me right) and he winked at me all leery like and a literally doubled my pace. Maybe it's best not to say thanks. Erm, anyway, what I was TRYING to say was: I love your boots!

I'm sorry, but those two little stories put a big smile on my face. I can honestly say that I haven't had any situations like that in a LONG while, but that's due to dressing like a mother now (meaning I make no effort at my appearance on most days). The comments I get anywhere close to that are about how adorable my son is (not from normal people) from women who look like little old gypsy witches who want to steal him and turn him into something good to eat. I just smile and nod. :)
