Forecast Fashion show 2009

Insanity.
That was what I thought throughout the show. It was pure fun and I was always thinking wow. This is unreal. So cool. I got to the Armory at 3pm as my models were having their hair and make up done. The awesome Aysia from Paul Mitchell had printed a photo of Hello Lindello bloggers' Kate with her high geisha bun to reference. It was so funny to see a huge printed photo of you Kate! Thanks for the idea Kate, it looked FABULOUS! Such a great idea that the other emerging designer also gave her models (a guy and a gal) high geisha buns as well!!

What I wore to the show. Urban Outfitter jacket and American Apparel tee dress

Sasha getting her hair did.

Alyssa had a longer hair styilng process. She had Ladyfingers for the Gatsby run.

As models file in, the place started to get a bit crazy or as Adam Andreas said "control mess".

Alyssas' very cool hair.

I think the most unglamorous thing was the waiting. Oh the waiting. As an emerging designer with only two looks, I didn't really have anything to fret over. I had alot of things done and with Sasha finished and Alyssa almost done early in the set up, I did alot of waiting. There was a tub of wine, water and also a table laden with carrots, dips and all sorts of nibbles. I did get to talk to the very gifted Adam Andreas who, like me, was an emerging designer. You should check out his portfolio, his asymetrical cropped blazers are super cool. Plus his male models were a riot. I like Adam because he is also a social hermit like me. The funny thing about social hermits are that when one social hermit meets another social hermit and they talk about how awkward socializing is to them, the socialize with each other. Word. Donovan, one of his gorgeous models, schooled Sasha in putting fierce into her walk. Think of Mr J in ANTM but taller and way more beautiful. He instantly adopted her during those few hours of getting ready and even challenged my models to a walk off. It was at this time, I thought to myself. Oh my gosh, I'm here. I have models and other models are challenging them to a walk off. Pure crazyness.
Donovan and Sasha. Putting Tyra to shame. (Tyra! Tyra! Tyra!)

Alyssa and Sasha, nearly ready to go.

The music downstairs got louder and you could hear the chatter of the audience around 7.30pm and designers in the back were making last minute decisions. The room was filled with off white fairy dresses with taxidermy pieces in between, male models dressed in 1800s esque clothes with suspenders and a dreamy gleam in their eyes, gorgeous head pieces by Elizabeth Dye and just too many sights to behold. The emerging designer section got called to line up and we all went into the elevator to the second floor from which the models walk off from and down the stairs to a platform. The feeling of " oh just go go go!" is inevitable and when the MC introduces your line, your first model struts out. I'm not nervous but my palm is sweaty. It is like doing a presentation but you're not talking, someone is presenting your work and you're not nervous at all. Mostly because my models were so confident and awesome. It went all too quickly and before you knew it, the MC called the emerging designers to walk and bow. EEEP! There were so many faces and you're trying to scan for your family and friends in that fast instant. I saw Les (tall) and Marty (loud). After the bowing, we were free to watch the show with the audience. It was amazing. The place was packed so it was hard to see the designs from some places.

Sasha and I post show.

Marty and I went downstairs to the photobooth where you could take as many photobooth photos as you want for, FREEEE! I love free and I love photos so it was like totally awesome and stuff. I'll have to scan them in soon, as they are tres hilarious. Also, I want one for my future house.

I want to thank the Portland Mercury jurors: Marjorie, Brett and Pam for selecting Muntedkowhai and giving me this opportunity to show my work and for organizing this awesome event! A HUGE thank you to my beautiful models, Sasha and Alyssa who took time to meet up and sort out the finer details and were such dolls to work with! Lastly, a big thank you to my family and friends who came to the show, it meant so much to me that you came! Love you!
