New project:

Last week, while waiting for Maki (delicious japanese food) to open, I noticed the antique store next door was having a closing down sale (sad). There were so many cockeries and knick knacks that my heart started pounding. As I was finish looking around, I saw the clothes section and it has been my intention for a while to shop for vintage clothes and alter them. Lo and behold, this dress stared back at me and I was instantly drawn to the floral material. It is so summer and the flowers on it is not obnoxious but very charming and quaint. I got it for 10 dollars. I started to unstitch everything, a shirt dress is now in the works. (Perhaps with a grecian style straps? Not sure) I wish I had taken a photo of the dress pre-op but I was too excited to start unstitching it. Originally the dress hit down to the ankles with long sleeves and lace at the end of the sleeves. The front is V cut, adorned with lace up to the neck, so needless to say, I'll have lots of extras to make into other things! I'm very excited to be working on something other than Muntedkowhai, although there is a mountain heap of Muntedkowhai things I really need to start cracking on!!

One of those dresses you wear to a weekend market in the sunshine.

Also, my mother wanted to purchase two Muntedkowhai pieces for my cousins in England and so I made them something a few weeks ago. However, it is not the crochet lace motif necklaces I usually make, just normal vintage bead and chain play pieces. I don't know, there is something daunting about someone buying my pieces for someone else, especially if it is family. There is extra pressure! So I chicken crapped it and made them safe pieces. Does anyone feel the same? Making pieces for family is way more daunting than having strangers buy it.

I'm off to Seattle tomorrow until Tuesday for the American Association of Immunologist conference. I'll bring my laptop along but stingy Sheraton, like most hotels, charge for wireless internet! BOOOOOO corporate hotels!!!

I like your fabric, good luck on the project! I like making presents for family members but they're usually immediate family members since you get to know their taste easily.

You are crazy. I would love one of your crochet pieces as a gift. Even if I didn't wear it I would probably frame it and put it up on the wall or something.

Have fun at conference!
