Real "happily ever afters"
When I saw Dana Goldstein's Fallen Princesses, I was immediately endeared to them. Having not grown up with fairy tales aboard, Dana's fascinations with fables grew after having children of her own. She did extensive research and found that Disney had turned very grim stories into all happily ever afters. Hence, her inspiration for the Fallen Princesses take on reality in bold and dark strides.
