Pastel inspired weekend

I feel so accomplished this weekend because I've gotten all the things I wanted to finish, done! Registering Muntedkowhai in the state of Oregon AND tallying up expenses and sales, ready for the tax man next weekend was not as torturous as I had assumed it to be! I sat on my bed with the spring sun trying very hard to peek in and got the majority of it done in 4 hours. After that, I was able to photograph the new additions to my spring collection:

A week or so ago, I was talking to Aaron about my wedding collection (he is such a dear for not sleeping on me when I talk about Muntedkowhai... which can be 60% of our phone calls!) and he gave me such a grand idea that I just had to carry it out! He said that I should make a necklace that follows the old saying " Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue". I could only carry out 3/4 of the saying so the Jane Austen's I Do necklace has: something old (vintage rhinestone button), something new (hand crochet lace motif) and something blue (gorgeous teal Indian silk ribbon). It took me a long time to figure out the lace motif so I had to price it more than the rest of the collection. The Jane Austen's I Do is not for the faint of heart as it is an attention grabbing lace motif that sits big on the brides bare chest with the delicate teal silk ribbon cascading down her sensual back:

Cable Cowl and crunching cars..

I finally got the hang of crocheting cables and re-crochet the cowl! I love crocheting with chunky yarn, it takes.. seconds! (Especially when comparing to my motifs) Since I've never made anything decent for my mother, I thought I should give her this cowl. I had tried to crochet her a vest last year which made her look like an asian cavewoman, not the trend of 2007. Cowls are super duper warm and since joining Etsy, they're popping up everywhere. I don't make them anywhere near spiffy as others but it's warm and public wear-able so Mum is happy!

I came home late, 7pm from work. (Urgh, stupid plasmid preparation!) Roads are all iced over. Our neighbourhood is on a hill. Normally you don't think much of the hill but when it's iced over and your car loses control and gives you a magic mountain ride for free, you notice. The instant I turned onto that road, I thought " You iz not very smart.." WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Ahhh! Crunches are NEVER ever good. All I could think of was, poor baby, oh poor baby. (I bought my Corolla Sept 2007) I got out of the car but did not want to access the damage. Denial is good. My step dad and mother walked over from the house, it was only 2 blocks away, thank goodness and with his help and a kind stranger (I love kind strangers!!), my car was freed!
Here is why I'm counting my lucky stars:


* I'm not hurt.
*No one else was hurt.
*No other car was hurt.
*My car, did not sustain ANY damage!! (It crashed up the foot path)
*I was so close to home
*No other cars came crashing into me


Eeeeek! I don't like it one bit even though nothing major happened to me but it's a bit of a shaking up!

So for anyone driving in the winter time, drive safe and if it is horribly bad, just think: how much do you get paid a day, is it worth the damage you might sustain going to work on an icy day?
If no, boil some water and make your self a hot cup of tea and enjoy some Sally Jessie Raphael. (Is she still on? )

Oh the white stuff, how I love you so

What a perfect Sunday! I woke up to the sound of a car raving and I excitedly pushed my curtains apart to find the entire neighbourhood covered in gorgeous white snow! I rushed to get all my snowboarding gear ready for some urban boarding but mostly for just some silly fun in the snow! There is something so very magical about untouched new snow that makes everything look so beautiful. It is quite horrible of me but I can never let an undisturbed blanket of snow in peace, I have to ruin it for everyone else. As I'm blogging about this, I hear laughter and joyous screams from children which is so delightful and heartwarming. Our christmas tree is up and ready to be dressed, the snow is still coming down (fingers crossed for no work tomorrow) and the holiday excitement has begun.

The past week, I've been making more Admiral on Leave necklaces because I've just fallen in love with the design of it. I'm always eager to try out different colours and buttons/baubles and for the Admiral, it seems like everything looks oh so pretty! My first craft fair

Yesterday, I had my first craft fair ever at the Victory. I was oh so nervous and the night before I was up late getting my displays ready. I did not have the time nor the money to buy proper necklace displays so I opted for more organic simple cardboard displays. I cut the textured cardboard into different shapes reminiscent of old shop signs and cut slits up at the top to affix the chains. They did their job but I would like to invest in an antique half bust sometime in the near future. It makes my necklaces look more professional. The fair itself was slowwww. I had alot of "ooo that is pretty, lovely work!" but no purchases until the last minutes of the show. A girl bought the Halsey Necklace (The one you can see in the photograph, grey with red buttons) It is a fun lovely necklace. I think I will do another grey and red combo soon. Most crafters at the show was complaining of the slow traffic and concluded it was mostly because of the Black Friday bleedover. Sad. Oh well, it is an experience nonetheless! Lots of my business cards did get squandered into people's pockets and purses which is a good sign!!

My next show is my trunk show at Thea's on Thursday, so if you're free, please come and have some wine and food and look through Thea's wonderful vintage shop down in the Pearl. I'm really hoping I will do much better there!

I am convinced that I need to make more of the double chained necklaces as that got alot of compliments yesterday.

I used a bit of the burlap I got for the craft fair table and am using it as a base for Rach's present. My dear friend Rach back in New Zealand just purchased a house with her boyfriend. Oh how fast we're all becoming adults. I'm making a cross stitch for her house, something cute and funky. It will say " Home iz where the *insert cross stitch of science beaker* iz." She's a scientist as well, you see.

OHHHHHHHHH! Plus I got my lovely gorgeous ring from Sarustar!!!!! I wish I have my camera butmy mother has it with her at her art show. Oh it is so beautifully and I love it! It's mine! I'm not a huge ring person, I've only owned 3 in my entire life excluding grooovy mood rings. There was the first platinum ring that my step dad got my sister and I when he and my mother first got married but I lost that! (I'm no good at keeping nice things!!) The second one was a tiny amber gem ring with silver leave frame that I bought in Corvallis but now I don't know where it is. I know it's somewhere in the house but this one, I will not loose!! It's so simple and the colour so subtle but special that it really makes a statement! (Even if it is on my manly fingered hands) Thanks Sarustar, I truly love it!
