Black and sand

I wore this today and I am digging black and sand combo:
Earrings from Sarustar jewelry

Boy. I am mentally pooped.
I spent the entire day going through the piles and piles of data.
Disappointment. I've been working all month non stop, no weekends to find out that my results are not what we predicted.
However, in science, wrong hypothesis results are still data.
Now I have to change the story I've been writing.
4 more days at work.

Tonight:
an order for Tilde
a necklace for a returning customer
(I love love returning customers!)

Kids

The other day at work, my co worker brought her 6 year old along as his school was closed for Thanksgiving. I was reading a science paper at my desk and he was playing lego planes, zooming around. He stopped at my side and he said " Tiffany, you're beautiful."
I turned, Oh, aw. Thank you.

(Theres something ultra sweet when a kid says you're beautiful)

Kid: Yea. you're beautiful.
Me: Thanks Benjamin, well you're very handsome.
Kid: mmm. I don't want to be a boy anymore.

*silence*

Me: Oh but boys have so much fun!
Kid: Yea but I like dresses.

*Oh no, what do I say. His mum is right there.*

Me: Me too.

What I'm' craving now:

crunchy tater tots with great creamy ranch

marin snail mucus

"one of the earliest samples of the first synthetic dye, Mauveine, paved the wya for a new dye industry. Until then, the natural source of purple day was the mucus of a marine snail from the Mediterranean region, but its extraction made it expensive."

- reading this huge behemoth book of SCIENCE: THE DEFINITIVE VISUAL GUIDE by DK publishing. I bought it for my step brother who is fast becoming a science geek (loves!). I will give it to him when I get to NZ but for now... I can geek out myself!

Impatience

I'm not a fan of patience. I stop the microwave before it is finished.
I get irritated at slow drivers in a car park. Sometimes, I'm impatient for life.
I feel like I'm losing time sometimes and that is a restless feeling.

Sometimes, I have to pull back and remind myself that I must be patient of people.

1.5 more weeks

It's getting to the point at work, where its the last week before holidays and your mind is off wandering. Except I'm not going on a holiday, I'm leaving work and there is lots to be done. I made a promise to finish a project and I'm sticking to my word, even though it seems highly unlikely as the science god(s) throws in a wrench into my experiments. Oh well, I can only do the best I can!

Aside from work, here are the few huge things stressing me out:

* selling my 2008 Corolla
* finding a flat (apartment) in Melbourne
* Citizenship test

However, things I look forward to kind of outweighs the stress items:

* One week in NZ eating pies with boyfriend
* My sister's baby due in Jan
* A new life in Melbourne!

Currently crushing on these freaking adorable lace up calf warmers:

These socks totally remind me of bagpipe players.

Weekend

My weekend was broken up with science. It's crazy, two more work weeks. Not a lot of time to get things done. I did however, take time off and had dinner with my osu crew and then a game of Cranium. I love board games once in a while. Muntedkowhai has been on a bit of creating hiatus, I'm not feeling the creative vibes right now, possibly dampened by the stress of science. For those of you interested, here is a peek into my 9-5 and sometimes weekend gig:

Looking at my cells, through a really old microscope.

The lab. I love that the walls are painted mud clay red.

Doing things in a sterile manner.

The rows and rows of cure hope.

20 or so

20 or there abouts days until I board that plane. It's around a 15 hour plane ride, 10 hour overlay in Sydney and then another 4 hour plane ride to Christchurch. I get in at 11pm and the next day is the wedding. Oi! I'm going to be one zombie wedding guest!! I will need all the beauty sleep I can get before the wedding and any tips on staying refreshed and non- air traveled out, would be great! I used to bring a small canister of evian water spray with me to mist my dry skin on the plane but since 9/11, I can't do that anymore. *sad face*

Time is flying by so so very fast at work and I feel rather unmotivated to get things done. I'm pulling weekends till I leave and well, science is like the reverse of dog years. In the midst of everything, I am procrastinating looking at my Australian tax forms and the file of papers Peter Mac sent me. This weekend, is for form filling.

Also, I should have the MUNTEDKOWHAI website up very very soon. It has taken me a very long time, I don't know why because it is a very clean cut, sinmple site. Priorities get shuffled once in a while and the website is a prime example of this!

Time to conquer Thursday in the lab!

Ever since I wandered into Lille, Sarah's dyed vintage silk knit stockings has haunted me. I love them. They are so pretty in their peaches, corals delicate states, draped over wooden rods, that they beckoned to be worn. I have yet strike up the courage to hand over $40 for a pair but boy, it is tempting when its this time of the year... splurge!

Shall I entice you as well?

Why I love my boyfriend

Every night before I go to bed, I would either send a sweet dream text to Aaron or if I forget he will. It usually consists of his highlight of the day and I miss you alot, I love you, Sweet dreams. His highlight of the day usually revolves around his dinner, food. Last night, the text was " I made prawn fried rice. It was yummy. I love you so much, Sweet dreams."

This made me smile and laugh so much because he is so cute. He loves loves loves his food. That's one quality of Aaron that I love so much. We are gastronomically compatible. My previous boyfriends were never adventurous with food. Since I'm cantonese, food is a HUGE part of my life and not having to heat up pizza for your boyfriend while everyone eats chinese food (that has happened before!) is so nice. He tries everything and he appreciates the texture, the combination of flavours. The thing is, his tastebuds are really refine, more so then mine. He can taste out what makes up a dish, spices wise and this impressed my uncles in HK to no end. It was so nice, when we visited HK and Malaysia and ate with families, that he enjoyed very chinese things such as tonic soup (tong), chicken feet (always such an anatomical disgust with most westerners) and a myriad of other delicacies. Aaron has such a love for trying new food AND cooking new recipes, that I am, everyday, am reminded of how fortunate I am to have him as my consuming partner.

Sunday

Today was great.
* I woke up late
* had cheddar jalepeno bagel for breakfast, chatting with Mum
* Melbourne flat (apartment) hunting online
* took a crisp afternoon walk with Mum
* cleaned the inside of my car.

Oh my gosh. My car was so so messy. I had a years worth of printed google maps on the floor, high heel shoes, running shoes, tent, sleeping bag, 8 empty water bottles and a few fistful of receipts!

Yuk. I vacuumed, wiped and even febreezed the insides.
Now I have a super clean car. Yay!!!

* went to work for 15 minutes to treat some cells.
* had DELICIOUS cuban food at Pembiche. Oh my lord, it was just what my tummy had been craving!

A Sangria to end the weekend

Hope yours was just as nice

I love you, Let's get something to eat

I'm watching the FACE PAINTER episode of SEINFIELD, its hilarious. George eagerly tells his new gf that he loves her and she seemingly doesn't hear him and says "Let's get something to eat." It reminds me of the I love yous that have come and gone. I remember not feeling comfortable with saying it to my first and second boyfriend, I always felt uneasy saying it. I do, however relish in the memory of the first time Aaron said it. It was a Sunday,we were in bed and he was tickling me. After laughing from the unbearable tickles, he said ever so softly " I love you". It warmed my heart, I was pleasantly surprised. I never knew he felt that way. I didn't say anything. I smiled and gave him a deserving kiss.

The problem was, that week after he said it, I tried to say it as well but I didn't want to say it just to reassure that I felt the same way. I wanted to say it not as a reply, but as my own confession. He said it a second time around and I felt pressured. I so so very badly wanted him to know, that I love him, oh oh so much but when can I say it so that it was the perfect timing for me. Another week passes by, he asked " I love you, what do you think?"
Oh no! Now I'm pressed for an answer and even though it is a yes, I don't want it to happen this way. I ended up saying, yes I know.

I remember laying in bed, looking at him, the words crawled silently out. He had sleepy eyes and oh I love him so much. I said it so many times in my head. I finally slowly said those words and he smiles and says, I know, I love you too.

Do you remember your first I Love You to your sig other?

Weekday dinner with friends

This past Thursday, the OSU crew and I went to have dinner at the Western Culinary Restaurant. The food was mediocre, cooked and served by culinary students but the company was great. I had french onion soup, mussels, roasted ridiccio and poached pear and brie salad, duck and lemon tarte for $25. Have you met my good friends?

Martin and his girlfriend Bonnie. I've known Martin for 10 years now.

Tim drinking tea.

Les, he loves the art of food.

Kristi, Les's girlfriend. Has the cutest shoes.

Munro

I had half an hour to kill before meeting my friends at the Western Culinary Restaurant (Meals cooked and served by culinary student= 5 course meal for $25), so I headed to Nordstrom. Straight to the hosiery and shoes department! I bought a pair of bone coloured Ralph Lauren cable knitted tights. So so very cute, I love tights. Not the ones that hold your tummy hostage and make you feel all gross that it is pouchy. Eww! I've founds a few tights from Urban Outfitters that fit well but don't last that long. So hopefully these Ralph Lauren tights will last, their socks do pretty good!

On my exit, my eyes caught a sight of these pair of Munro shoes:

1) LOW HEEL. Perrrrfect for work. Super comfy.

2) Grey suede!

3) Button, military details!!

Dry Shampoo

The other night whilst getting ready at Katie's place for Molly's wedding, Katie showed me her dry shampoo. What an invention! Dry shampoo! I had always wanted something like this. My hair tends to be a bit oily and when I'm pressed for time, I could only imagined such a product! The day after the wedding, I went out and bought my own Rockaholic but haven't used it yet. I've read bad bad reviews about how you can get only 3 uses out of the can before it runs out. It is shampoo in spray form and when aimed at your roots, absorbs the excess oil. (My mind can't wrap around the sciences of it. Like so it absorbs the oil and then what? Will that flake off? or just make it cakey? TIGI seems to be very vague)

Have you used dry shampoo before? What are the brands you recommend?

One more month

Till I'll be receiving hugs and kisses from one boy in Christchurch, NZ. Now that things are finally falling into place (it seems so easy doesn't it, I'm being watched over), I'm seeing how fast time is going by. I'm packing my life (two suitcases), starting a new job, new lattitude and a new abode with my Mr. That is swell. Is it crazy that this has been my fantasy? Just a normal day to day life, with Aaron, that is my fantasy.

A fantasy:

I wore light blue tights today and I forget how much I love colourful tights.
